Crowning point

六月 2, 2000

I would like to make clear beyond any doubt that Queen's University, Belfast, is not supplanting its coat of arms with a new logo.

The logo is additional to the coat of arms, which includes the crown, the red hand of Ulster and the harp of Ireland. The coat of arms will continue to be used in all areas relating to the governance of the university, for all material relating to graduations, in sporting contexts, as a watermark on all university external stationery and on other publications where appropriate. It appears, for example, on the cover of next year's undergraduate prospectus.

The coat of arms is an integral part of our corporate identity system. Queen's is proud of its heritage. Its coat of arms respects all the traditions in Northern Ireland. It has never been a political issue and the university deplores any attempt to politicise it now.
