Case for lessons in teaching

八月 16, 1996

A rich vein of discontent with the quality of teaching in universities has been tapped by graduate Anna Tobin.

My daughter has just completed a course at Thames Valley University and Anna Tobin's experience certainly mirrors hers. My daughter can add her experience of the shambolic way the sending out of final results has resulted in more aggravation and disappointment. This last experience is, I understand, as a result of the cutbacks in support staff. Which, in turn, is, I suppose, to finance vice chancellors' exorbitant pay rises.
