Gül İnanç, lecturer at NTU's School of Art, Design and Media, and co-director, Centre for Asia Pacific Refugee Studies, emphasises the transformation within higher education that the Covid-19 pandemic has catalysed.
Dr İnanç particularly refers to the elimination of many barriers to education through global, online access to higher education course content.
She believes that how the global educational community responds to this pandemic and makes use of the vast online resources now available to global communities will determine what a global functioning community looks like and how we could ensure the emergence of such a community.
Dr İnanç is particularly supportive of the UNHCR 15 by 30 campaign which aims to increase the number of refugees with access to higher education from three percent to 15 percent by 2030.
If more universities extended their initiatives to provide educational resources, particularly online ones, this goal could be reached.
