About Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology
Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology was established in 1993. The university is named after Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, a 19th century Muslim philosopher and reformer. His vision to transform Pakistan into a knowledge-based society through education and research has become a driving force for the university.
The university is located in Karachi, a city in southern Pakistan.
The university is organised into two faculties, the faculty of engineering and the faculty of basic and applied sciences. Both faculties offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. Undergraduate students can also study a bachelors of business administration.
Alongside their studies students are encouraged to make use of the university’s sports facilities. There is a basketball court, volleyball ground, cricket pitch, soccer field and athletic track as well as indoor equipment for table tennis and badminton.
Sir Syed University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology is a peer-reviewed journal published by the university. The journal welcomes contributions of original research findings that are written in English.
The university is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities of the UK and a member of the International Association of Universities. It is also affiliated with Aligarh Institute of Technology in India.
