About Istanbul Gedik University
Istanbul Gedik University was established as a vocational school in 2010, and was given university status in 2011.
It is the flagship enterprise of the Gedik Foundation, established in 1994 by a family enterprise with knowledge of welding, materials and metallurgy.
Students are divided between faculties of fine arts and architecture, law, economic, administrative and social sciences, engineering, health science and sports science. There are also vocational schools offering four-semester programmes which earn admission either into undergraduate courses or the relevant profession.
Research centres include Turkey’s first Centre for Bangladesh Studies, a Research and Applications Centre for Women’s Entrepreneurship and the Welding Technology Application and Research Centre, which focusses particularly on welding with aluminium.
The university has relationships with more than 40 overseas partners, including Universiteti Barleti in Tirana, Albania, Kazakhstan Information Technology University and Pakistan Superior University.
