About Harokopio University of Athens
Harokopio University was founded in 1894 and named after the national benefactor, Panagis Harokopos who promoted higher education. The university admitted its first students in 1993. The university is located in Kallithea, in Athens, Greece.
Harokopio University has three schools: environment, geography and applied economics; health science and education; and digital technology. The university has four undergraduate departments: home economics and ecology; geography; nutrition and diatetics, and informatics and telematics.
In addition to undergraduate programmes, the university also offers four postgraduate programmes in sustainable development, applied nutrition and dietetics, applied geography and spatial management, and education and culture.
The city of Kallithea is known for its Greek folk music, rebetiko and laiko, with a wealth of popular composers and singers having performed there in the past. There are two universities in the area, Harokopio, as well as Panteion University. It also houses one of the oldest technical schools in Greece, Sivitanidios School.
In their downtime, students can also explore the city’s historical and cultural heritage by viewing the Municipal Gallery, Kallithea Monument, and Olympic Complexes.
