About Andijan Institute of Agriculture and Agro-Technology
One of the largest higher education institutions in Uzbekistan, the Andijan Institute of Agriculture and Agro-Technology has an alumni network of over 23,000, and is a significant contributor to the country’s research in the fields of agronomy, engineering and science. Founded in 1964 as the agricultural branch of the Tashkent State Agrarian University, before achieving independent status, it is located in Andijan, a small city to the east of Uzbekistan’s capital, Tashkent.
The university has a sole focus on agrarian and agro-technology and engineering programmes. It serves to develop agrarian policy in Uzbekistan by researching and lecturing on science and advancements in agro-technology, teaching theoretical knowledge and practical skills to students. Its faculty is comprised of national and international industry specialists, as well as researchers and academics.
The Andijan Institute of Agriculture and Agro-Technology is divided into five faculties. These are: the Faculty of Silk and Mulberry Industry, the Faculty of Plant Protection and Agrochemistry, the Faculty of Agrobusiness and the Digital Economy, the Faculty of Agrobiology, and the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Hydromelioration.
Programmes within each faculty are designed to give students a practical and comprehensive education in a specialised field so as to contribute to the development of the agro-economy. Each faculty offers both bachelors and masters degrees, covering areas such as horticulture, livestock management, sustainable farming methods, genetic modification and several more.
In addition to academic endeavours, the university has strong industry links and is partnered with government agencies and industry stakeholders, often holding conferences and events.
