About Central Bicol State University of Agriculture
Central Bicol State University of Agriculture is a state university located in Pili, Camarines Sur, Philippines. It was set up in 1947 as the Camarines Sur Agricultural School and has since grown to have four campuses, Pili, Pasacao, Sipocot and Calabanga.
Pili campus hosts the colleges of veterinary medicine, arts and sciences, development education, economics and management, engineering and food sciences, and agriculture and natural resources. The Pasacao campus has one of the colleges of education. The colleges of criminology, education, industrial technology, and information technology are located at the Sipocot campus. And finally, the Calabanga campus is where the second college of arts and sciences is located, and a third college of education.
As an agriculture-focused university, the university offers research and extension programmes in aquaculture, crop science, animal science, and natural resource management.
Central Bicol State University of Agriculture places a strong emphasis on community engagement, particularly in the areas of rural development and sustainable agriculture. The university offers various outreach programmes, training, and extension services to farmers, fisherfolk, and other rural communities in Camarines Sur and beyond.
One of the notable programmes of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture is the Technology Business Incubation programme, which supplies support and resources to start-up companies in the agriculture and technology sectors. Another significant achievement of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture is the establishment of the Institute of Fisheries, Aquatic Sciences, and Technology (IFAST). IFAST is a research and extension centre that focuses on the development of sustainable fisheries and aquatic resources management. The institute conducts various research projects and provides training and technical aid to fisherfolk and other stakeholders in the fishing industry.
