About Eternal University

Eternal University is the first women’s university in North India. Its mission is "to transform and empower young women’s talent through cutting edge education in science, technology, education, arts, and management".

The university was founded in 2009 by the Government of Himachal Pradesh. It is recognised by three organisations: University Grants Commission (UGC), Nursing Council of India (NCI), and the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE).

The university is located in Baru Sahib, a district in Himachal Pradesh, northern India.

Academically, the university is organised into seven colleges: Dr. Kehm Singh Gill Akal College of Agriculture, Akal College of Engineering and Technology, Akal College of Basic Sciences, Akal College of Health and Allied Sciences, Akal College of Education, Akal College of Economics, Commerce and Management, and Akal College of Arts and Social Sciences. Within each college are a number of departments, offering both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.

There are a range of clubs and societies on offer for students to join such as the English literary society, cultural club, sports club, and renewable energy club.

The university's research projects focus on the fields of crop improvement, food processing, renewable energy, biodiversity conservation, nanotechnology, microbial biotechnology, herbal products and drugs from medicinal plants.

There are three laboratories within the university, which specialise in food chemistry and analysis, food instrumentation, and quality control and food microbiology.
