About Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute
Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute was originally established in 1972 as the Central Asian Pediatric Medical Institute. The main objective of the institute was to train highly qualified doctors and pediatricians due to theabsence of pediatricians in the region and a high infant mortality rate. In 1989 the Uzbekistan Ministry of Health renamed the institute Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute.
The institute is located in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
There are three undergraduate faculties: pediatrics faculty, pediatrics and medical biology and medical pedagogical and medical. Each faculty is divided into a number of departments offering a variety of courses. The department of doctoral studies offers two doctoral programmes for students looking to further their studies. The university also offers advanced training courses for medical staff working in the public and private sectors.
The department of international relations is responsible for developing partnerships with universities and medical organisations across the globe. These include St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University in Russia and the Bundang Hospital Seoul National University in South Korea. The department also organises international seminars and conferences throughout the year.
