About University of Waterloo
The University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada was established in 1957. Originally hosting 74 engineering students, the university wanted to create an environment of co-operative education. Now it hosts more than 42,000 students each year, with approximately 30,000 international students from 120 countries worldwide.
There are six faculties at the university including arts, engineering, environment, health, mathematics and science. Within these faculties students can choose to study any of the 100+ programmes available including biotechnology, data science, digital arts, health, robotics and sustainability under the umbrella of the business or environmental programmes. Students can also study multiple subjects by adding minors to their degree.
The university offers undergraduate and graduate courses as well as alternative ways to learn including professional courses, part-time studies and exchange programmes.
The university has four libraries, with more than one million books between them.
There are over 200 accredited student clubs, as well as three student newspapers.
With a global network of 220,000 alumni across 151 countries, the University of Waterloo offers opportunities with over 7,000 co-op employers to students.
