About Karakalpak State University

Karakalpak State University was founded in 1976.

The university offers 49 undergraduate and 20 master specialisms for students to choose from. There are 15 faculties including economics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, history, physical culture, geography and natural resources. There are also the faculties of foreign languages, construction, architecture, industry and technology, philology and journalism, and law.

The university offers a range of extra-curricular opportunities from sports to literacy and academia. The dance group, Khurliman, has been running for over 40 years, offering students the opportunity to participate in international festivals across the country. The university’s drama school has also won several awards. Students can also become involved with the university’s newspaper and radio, gaining skills in journalism and communication.

Karakalpak State has partnerships with 55 universities across 17 countries around the world, from Europe to China, Kazakhstan and the UK. Through these partnerships, the university offers study abroad Erasmus+ programmes.
