About Central University of Finance and Economics

The Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) was founded in 1949 as the Central School for Taxation. It changed its name in 1996 when the Ministry of Education took leadership. The university is located in China’s capital, Beijing.

The university has 27 schools, including finance, law, business and foreign studies, offering students a plethora of choice. The university offers master's and PhD degree programs, which are taught in either English or Chinese. Students are also offered non-degree programmes such as the Chinese Language Semester Program, which offers high-achieving students from abroad a chance to study at CUFE for a semester with all learning undertaken in Chinese.

Students can choose from courses including insurance, international business, urban planning and management, and art management among others. Courses range from two to three years duration.

The 1km² university is divided into two campuses: Xeuyuan South Road and Shahe. The campus offers excellent facilities to its staff and students through high-quality labs and libraries.

CUFE has so much to offer students, from visits to the Forbidden City, New Year’s parties, and sports meetings. In 2013, the Chinese Corner was set up for international students to improve their Chinese language skills and communicate with other students.

Not to mention, students will be living and studying in one of the world’s largest bustling cities. With a population of over 21 million and a rich cultural heritage, Beijing has lots to offer CUFE students. Students are often found enjoying the nightlife in one of Beijing’s many bars, clubs and hutongs. Beijing is a multicultural city, where a mix of cultures and lifestyles combine.
