About Vermont State University - Lyndon
Lyndon State College is a public institution in the US state of Vermont which has equipped its students with a strong foundation in liberal arts since the 1960s. It is located in the small northern Vermont town of Lyndon.
Established as a tiny teacher training college for women in 1911, LSU moved to its current location in 1951 and incorporated liberal arts programmes into its curriculum 10 years later, and later meteorology, physical education, special education, business administration and communications. More recent changes have included the introduction of postgraduate and online courses, and evening and weekend classes.

More than 90% of its students are from New England, and a similar number receive some form of financial support to meet costs. Around half of those at LSC live on campus, with many finding part-time work there.
Boasting views of 3,200-foot Burke Mountain, a popular ski resort, the campus is next to Interstate 91, which runs from Connecticut’s southern coast, through Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont, to the border with Canada. Lyndon is 40 miles south of the Canadian border and 120 miles south east of Montréal, the nearest major city, and the largest in the French-speaking province of Québec.
LSC has for decades run various atmospheric sciences courses, spawning several well-known meteorologists who appear on local and national television.
