Founded in 1896, Wingate University is in Wingate, North Carolina, US.

Wingate’s courses are structured across the Porter Byrum School of Business, Cannon College of Arts and Sciences, School of Sport Sciences and the Thayer School of Education.

Wingate offers 22 NCAA Division II varsity sports such as baseball, softball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, swimming, diving, tennis, track and field, lacrosse, football and volleyball.

The university website states that 95 per cent of graduates find jobs or pursue further education six months after graduation. It also says that Wingate’s nursing, pharmacy and physician assistant students, as well as the teacher education, master of accounting and athletic training graduates have a 100 per cent pass rate. 

A few notable alumni include football player and Grey Cup champion John Bowman, film director Rohit Gupta, former Republican US Senator Jesse Helms and former National Basketball Association player Lorinza Junior Harrington.
