About University of Michigan-Flint

The University of Michigan–Flint (UM-F) is located in Flint in Michigan and it is one of the two satellite campuses of the University of Michigan. The other satellite campus is in Dearborn.

As a result, students have access to a wide array of facilities across both campuses. This includes the university’s extensive library systems, galleries, and sporting events of the main campus.

There are over 100 academic programs to choose from at UM-F. Degrees on offer include: anthropology, environmental science and sustainability, marketing, music performance, social sciences and theatre studies.

Media has a strong presence on campus. The Michigan Times is a student-run campus newspaper, which in 2008, was awarded nine awards at the Michigan Press Association's Better College Newspaper Contest. The newspaper is printed weekly and is free on campus and in the surrounding downtown areas.

UM–F does not currently offer varsity intercollegiate athletics, but that doesn’t mean sport isn’t a strong focus on campus. There are clubs on campus which students can get involved with. Sports include: wrestling, golf, hockey, frisbee, soccer, volleyball, tennis, cheerleading, lacrosse and football.

Notable alumni include Christopher Curtis, a writer of children's books who is known for the critically acclaimed The Watsons Go to Birmingham, Michael Moore, an American documentary filmmaker and author, and David Robertson, an American conductor who is currently the music director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and chief conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
