About University of Monterrey

The Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) was founded in 1969 by a group of representatives from five Catholic orders, local business people, professionals and educators. Their goal was to build an institution of higher learning based on Christian beliefs and tradition, humanistic values and ideals, and social consciousness and awareness.

Since then, UDEM has become one of the best private universities in Mexico, attracting students from across the country. It is known for its concept of holistic education (formacion integral), standards of academic excellence and commitment to community service.

UDEM is located in San Pedro Garza Garcia, a friendly, safe and prosperous suburb of 126,000 inhabitants, which is part of the metropolitan area of Monterrey, the state capital of Nuevo León. It also has four preparatory locations: the San Pedro Campus located in the boundaries of the university campus, Valle Alto Campus located in the Estanzuela, the Fundadores Campus in Escobedo, Nuevo Leon, and the Obispado Campus, located in the Monterrey area. Nursing classes also take place at the Campus CHRISTUS Health Muguerza Conchita Hospital. UDEM has 11,583 students studying both graduate and postgraduate degrees.

The Trojan is the school mascot and representative sports teams of UDEM and it has teams in football, futsal, basketball, volleyball, track and field, swimming, taekwondo, archery and tennis.

Monterrey lies in a valley surrounded by mountains approximately 250 km south of the border with Texas and 1,000 km north of Mexico City. Monterrey is Mexico's third largest city and one of the nation's most important industrial, financial and business centres.
