About University of South Africa

The University of South Africa was founded in 1873 and was originally known as the University of the Cape of Good Hope. However, in 1918 the university became the University of South Africa.

The University of South Africa provides open, flexible and distance learning opportunities to people who cannot afford to attend residential universities. This has made it possible for students who live in remote parts of South Africa or other African countries to pursue their academic goals without needing to leave their community.

The university has colleges in accounting sciences, agriculture and environmental sciences, economic and management sciences, education, human sciences, law, science, engineering and technology and business leadership.
