About Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London

Initially established in 1906 as the Central School of Speech Training and Dramatic Art, the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama is a constituent of the University of London.

The school is a member of the Federation of Drama Schools and offers undergraduate, postgraduate, research degrees, and short courses in acting, actor training, applied theatre, design, stage management and other variety of disciplines related to speech and drama.

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama is also a member of the European Theatre Research Network, a partnership of the three elite higher education institutions committed to theatre and performance-making in Europe, namely: the University of Kent, Aarhus University and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

The school is also renowned for its industry connections and wide range of academic and professional contacts, including names like the British Film Institute, 1ST Framework, Hot House, 240 Project and many others.

The school, often referred to as Central, is also popular for its wide range of student events ranging from activities, exhibitions, festivals and talks.

It also strives towards maintaining equality and diversity among the student body and has an outreach programme to further this initiative. In addition to a vibrant student union, the university also offers different facilities like the student advice service, counselling and disability support services.
