THE Awards Asia 2022: shortlist announced

India and Malaysia take lead as best represented countries, followed by China

The shortlist for the Times Higher Education Awards Asia 2022 has been announced, with judges considering nearly 500 entries from 22 countries and territories this year.

Shortlisted entries represent the top contenders in eight categories covering the full range of university activities. A further two categories are based on THE DataPoints data.

India was the best represented country on the shortlist, with 11 entries. It was followed by Malaysia, with 10 entries, and China, with eight.

Shanghai University had the most shortlisted entries, earning mentions in three categories. Several institutions appeared in two categories, including the University of Basrah; Izmir Institute of Technology; Lasalle College of the Arts; Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; National University of Singapore; O.P. Jindal Global University; Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP); Universiti Malaysia Sarawak; and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

The winners of the fourth annual THE Awards Asia will be announced on 31 May at a ceremony that will close the first evening of THE’s Asia Universities Summit in Japan.
