Leicester and Glasgow clinch spots among top five as Cambridge leads the chart, with Oxford first for research power

For clinical medicine, the University of Cambridge has secured top position, rising from second in 2014, thanks to a GPA of 3.63. UCL and the University of Leicester finished joint second, although the London university submitted more than seven times as many FTE researchers (344) as its East Midlands counterpart (46).

The University of Oxford is ranked highest on research power after submitting almost 500 FTE researchers to the exercise. However, its GPA of 3.52 saw it slip to joint sixth on our GPA rankings, having claimed the top spot in 2014.

At a national level the Clinical Medicine UoA has a GPA of 3.41, with 50 per cent of its submission rated 4*. 4878.5 FTE staff were submitted to this UoA.
