Times Higher Education has been named the UK’s Business Magazine of the Year at the Professional Publishers Association Awards.

Judges at the event – the leading awards for the UK’s magazine sector – described THE as “an example of a modern business magazine operating at the highest level”, saying that it was the “standout winner” from a 12-strong shortlist.

There was particular praise for the integration of data and editorial content within the title, and for THE’s collaboration with The Wall Street Journal to produce the US College Rankings 2017, which was described as “evidence of the title’s calibre”.

The citation said: “In the words of one of our judges, this is an incredible entry from an impressive business, making it a standout winner.”

The prize was awarded at a ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 29 June.

John Gill, THE editor, said: “This is a fantastic recognition of the talent and hard work of an exceptional team. THE has, for five decades, been dedicated to covering the stories and issues that matter to universities and those who work in them, but over the past year or two we have extended our coverage to reach a truly global audience.

“It’s a tremendous achievement to win the most prestigious title at the magazine industry awards, and credit goes to the entire THE team across editorial, data and events.”

It is not the first time that THE has tasted success at the PPA Awards, with the title having been named Weekly Business Magazine of the Year and Business Media Brand of the Year in 2011.
