The power of data and technology in the battle against cancer

Cancer is the second leading cause of death resulting in 1 in 6 deaths globally. Research teams at UL are taking on the many challenges treatment of this disease pose. UL is home to the Limerick Digital Cancer Research Centre (LDCRC) - a multidisciplinary centre are dedicated to improving our understanding of the fundamental biology of cancer and using this new knowledge to find better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease. LDCRC is led by Professor of Cancer Genomics, Aedin Culhane, who in collaboration with Queens University Belfast is leading the All Island eHealth Hub for Cancer, funded by the Shared Ireland North South Research Fund.
