关于 Tampere University of Technology
Established in 2010, Tampere University of Technology (TUT) is the second largest engineering science university in Finland.
Located in the south of the country, in the city after which it is named, TUT comprises four faculties in Business and Built Development, Computing and Electrical Engineering, Engineering Sciences, and Natural Sciences, with a particular focused on teaching architecture and technology.
The university offers students the opportunity to embark on cross-disciplinary programmes and its master’s courses in science, technology and architecture, along with its doctoral ones in technology and philosophy, are held in high regard by employers.
TUT prides itself as being at the forefront of research developments into signal processing, optics, photonics, and intelligent machines. It places particular emphasis on combining research into natural sciences and engineering with business and industrial concerns, thus extending knowledge into ‘real life’ issues that have tangible benefits to society.
The university is situated conveniently close to the Hermia science park, which acts as a hub for 150 technology start-ups and includes a Nokia research institution. Other facilities that TUT students can benefit from include a well-equipped library, computer labs and work-stations, group study rooms, abundance sports facilities, recreational activities and clubs.
Of the university’s 10,500 students, approximately 1,500 are international students from over 60 countries globally. TUT’s global standing is further strengthened by its 200 partnerships with universities worldwide.
Students mainly use the student housing foundation TOAS (Tampereen opiskelija-asuntosäätiö) when searching for accommodation. TOAS provides a student-friendly service, offering high-quality dorm rooms which are located within walking distance of the university.
Tampere itself is quickly becoming one of Finland’s most popular student destinations due to its growing reputation as a business district and urban centre. With a population of almost 400,000 Tampere is the third largest city in Finland and the largest inland city in the Nordic countries.
