We have heard that scores of around 20 out of 24 are becoming the average score gained in the current round of Teaching Quality Assessment visits. This raises two questions: Are the assessors using the full range of the marking scale as we are always advised to? Or, is all this excellent teaching the reason why so many more first and upper-second class degrees are now being handed out?
