About Universitas Syiah Kuala
Universitas Syiah Kuala is the largest and the oldest national university in Banda Aceh, the capital city of the Indonesian province of Aceh.
The university was founded in September 1961, and is named after Tengku Abdur Rauf As Singkili, a prominent 16th century theologian.
The university has eight different faculties including economics and business, veterinary medicine, law, engineering, teacher training and education, medicine, mathematics and natural sciences and social science and politics. The university has associate, bachelors and master’s programmes.
The university also has different academic, research and student service units like the Language Centre, Manpower Service Centre, Guidance and Counseling Centre, American Corner/American Study Centre, Living Environment Research Centre, Women Study Centre, Traditional Food Study Centre, Marine Science Centre, Centre for Research.
Facilities include spacious classrooms, recreational centre, computer centres and spiritual, holistic centres. It has more than 131 laboratories for research, lab work and experiments.
