About Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia
The Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) was originally established as a Teachers College in 1954 in Bandung. In 1999, it was established as a public university offering degree courses in a variety of disciplines including religion, humanities and sciences. There are five regional campuses that form the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia: Cibiru, Sumedang, Purwakarta, Tasikmalaya, and Serang.
There are nine faculties at the university: educational science; language and literature; economics and business; science; technology and vocational; health; mathematics and science; art and design; and the postgraduate school. Across these faculties, students can choose undergraduate bachelor degrees such as community education, psychology, accounting, geography and nursing. There are also postgraduate master’s degrees on offer, including social science, Arabic language, architecture and accounting. Thirdly, the university offers postgraduate doctoral programmes in specialisms such as mathematics, English language, and psychology education and counselling.
The university has a range of education and recreational facilities to help students throughout their studies, including laboratories, a library, a language centre, indoor and outdoor theatres, a mosque, bank and polyclinic. For students who are interested in sports, there’s a sports hall, football field, golf driving range and swimming pool.
There are many different student organisations and clubs for students to get involved with on campus, from leadership organisations such as the UP Student Representative Council. There’s sporting organisations such as athletics, Ku Shin Ryu M, wrestling, tennis and rowing. Other organisations include the Christian Student Association, student choir, dance club, UKM radio and volunteer corps of the Indonesian Red Cross.
