关于 Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción
The Catholic University of the Most Holy Conception - known as UCSC for short - is a private Catholic university which receives some state funding. Its primary campuses are situated in the city of Concepcion in Chile.
The institution was founded in 1991, overseen by the Bishop of the Archdiocese of the Santisima Concepcion, and grew out of a branch campus of the Pontifica Universidad Catolica de Chile's that was established in 1970 in the city of Talcahuano. It has been accredited up to 2020 by the National Commission of Accreditation (NCA) and is a member of the Chilean Traditional Universities system.
While the main activity of the university takes place in Concepcion's Santo Domingo and San Andres campuses, the university also has offices in Talcahuano, Los Angeles, Chillan and Canete.
The Catholic University of the Most Holy Conception has seven main faculties: science; education; law; engineering; medicine; communication, history and social sciences; and economic and administrative sciences. It also has a Technological Institute and an Institute of Theology.
The mission of UCSC, according to the institution, is to contribute to the development of both the regional and national community. By means of an excellent academic programme and Christian teaching, the university aims to achieve this by positively influencing its students. It has a view to be a university that "from its Christian identity, creates and promotes opportunities, and generates knowledge to contribute to the development and welfare of society".
Notable alumni who studied at UCSC include poet and writer Gonzalo Osses, and politician and senator of the Bio-Bio region Alejandro Navarro.
