关于 University of Wisconsin-Stout
The University of Wisconsin Stout is a four year college named for politician and lumber magnate James Huff Stout. The university is based in the town of Menomonie in the west of the state, and is named for the historic Native American tribe that resided in the area.
Study at Stout is focused around the regions of science, business, computer engineering, and social sciences. Preprofessional programmes are also available, and a BFA in Art has been replaced by expanded courses in Design and Interactive Media. Stout also offers 22 masters degrees across a wide range of academic fields, and doctorates in Education and School Psychology. Blended programmes for adult learners are a mixture of online education and weekend classes.
Research is a core part of study at Stout, and there are 12 research centres at the university. The Centre for Applied Ethics offers certificates and overlaps with a Psychology major, and the Manufacturing Outreach Centre analyses business solutions to profitability and growth.
Stout has active national exchange and student study abroad programmes. Study can range from short term faculty led courses to longer term semester or year long courses. In previous years students have travelled to countries including Belize, Germany, and the UAE, and national locations such as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Athletics teams are known as the Blue Devils, and compete in the NCAA Division III. In total there are seven men’s sports programmes and nine women’s, as well as cheer and dance Spirit Squads. The American football team plays its home matches at Williams Stadium, which can host up to 4,500 spectators.
Alumni from Stout include US Senator Vera Bushfield, chef Cindy Pawlcyn, Olympic gold medallist John Peterson, and television host Nancy Zieman.
