关于 Hendrix College
Hendrix College is an American liberal arts college in the city of Conway, Arkansas which is associated with the Methodist Church. The college was originally founded in 1876 as the Central Institute primary school in the town of Altus; in subsequent years education for older students was added including at the college level. In 1884 the school was purchased by members of the Methodist Episcopal Church and in 1889 the institution was renamed Hendrix College after the Rev. Eugene Russell Hendrix. At this time the college also began allowing women to enroll. The college moved from Altus to Conway in 1890 and since that time the college has continued to grow and add to its range of academic programs.
Today Hendrix is home to roughly 1,100 students from nearly 30 different states and more than half a dozen countries, studying a wide range of undergraduate courses. The college offers upwards of 30 undergraduate majors and around 40 minors for students to choose from. Hendrix students also have the opportunity to combine courses to create their own educational experience as part of the college's Interdisciplinary Studies majors.
The suburban campus covers 175 acres in Conway and contains 36 major buildings. As well as the college’s academic and admin building the campus contains the student halls of residence as well as the college Wellness and Athletics Center which houses a swimming pool, basketball courts and gym.
