关于 Saitama Medical University
Saitama Medical University was founded in 1972, buts its history stretches back to Japan’s Meiji era. The university is based out of the former Moro Hospital, established in 1892.
Since its founding, the university has expanded from 80 students to a multi-faculty school.
The mission of the Medical Faculty is to cultivate physicians to have a strong affection for, understanding of and service to life.
There is plenty for students to get involved in during their spare time. Go (Japanese chess), chorus and fine art are some of the cultural societies available. Students can also join one of the dozens of sports clubs, such as judo, archery and baseball.
In 2003 the university established the Medical Education Centre. The centre is a place where students and staff learn together: both undergraduate and postgraduate instruction takes place, along with lifelong learning for practicing physicians.
Four hospitals are affiliated to the university: Saitama Medical University Hospital, Saitama Medical Center, Saitama Medical University Kawagoe Clinic and Saitama International Medical Center. Students can gain hands-on experience during their time at Saitama.
The university campus is 60 minutes north of central Tokyo in the town of Moroyama, Saitama Prefecture. It is a tranquil, green space nestled between two parks: Prefectural Kuroyama Natural Park and Prefectural Okumusashi Natural Park. The town is known as the Village of Citrus thanks to its beautiful lemon trees.
