I am concerned that the government's initiative to pay trainee teachers a salary ("It's still not a BEd of roses", THES, April 7) has attracted so little comment, especially bearing in mind the furore over performance-related pay for those in the profession.
Training salaries will create a huge disparity between those already in training and their counterparts a year hence, amounting to between Pounds 10,000 and Pounds 20,000.
