To join the ILT or not?

Unwin and Hodgkins ridicule the "new orthodoxy of higher education" - meaning what? As far as I am concerned it means placing "learning, teaching and scholarship" at the heart of the university endeavour. Cheap and ill-informed gripes about the ILT from the "existing orthodoxy" only add to the case for an organisation justifiably committed to enhancing what Ference Marton has recently called the "collective consciousness" of the University of Learning.
