Kara Juul is a PhD candidate researching education at the University of Oxford (St Antony’s College). After graduating from Cardiff University with a degree in business studies and Japanese (spending a year at Toyo University, Tokyo), Kara completed her MPhil in Modern Japanese Studies at the University of Oxford. Her doctoral research investigates the gender gaps in mathematics achievement in Japan according to the Programme of International Student Assessment, and the projected impact on the Japanese education system.
